Disc Usage

disc usage new

The disc, shown here left and right positions, should always be reproduced in black or a color from the palette, with white type. in one-color printing it can be reproduced in a screen of black (at least 20% Black)

it is preferable that the disc be positioned on the left side of the page, but when other factors don't allow this, it can be positioned on the right side (both versions are shown here). The disc should appear centered from top to bottom on the page. If special factors do not allow this centered position, it can be placed below or above the middle.

The proportion of the disc should be approximately 1/6th the height of the piece except for smaller pieces, like postcards and invitations measuring 7" or under in height. For those pieces the disc should not be reproduced smaller than 1/2".

In special circumstances the disc may be used on the back of a piece. For example:

  • The front of the piece has artwork promoting a specific exhibit or performance.
  • The piece has a college seal.
  • The piece is of such formal or serious nature that the disc would be inappropriate.
