Open Labs
The Open Labs of Columbia College Chicago are computer labs that have been designated for homework, study, and general computer use by our students, staff and faculty. There are three Open Labs:
- The Technology Commons, 618 S. Michigan, Lower Level
- 1104 S. Wabash, 1st floor Mezzanine
- 33 East Congress, 5th Floor, Room 521
A current and valid Columbia Campus Card ID is required for admittance by all.
The labs have 94 Dual-Boot iMac computers, which students can choose their preferred operating system: Mac OS X Lion or Windows 7, to complete their tasks. Open Labs provides black and white laserjet printers and scanners. Applications include: Microsoft Office and Adobe CS 6 Design & Web Premium. Please see the individual lab pages for more detailed information on installed software.
Lab Workers are on duty in all open labs to help students, faculty, and alumni with check-in, printing, and additional questions. Tutors are available to assist students with assignments, projects, and troubleshooting computing problems and using applications.
Campus Cards are accepted as the only form of payment for printing in the Open Labs, and can be recharged with funds online using a credit/debit card.
During the fall and spring semesters, the labs are open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Weekend hours vary. Our 1104 S. Wabash Lab is open Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Please visit this site for changes in hours during holidays and semester breaks.
