Advancement Services Team

Advancement Services is responsible for all traditional advancement services functions for the Office of Institutional Advancement, including gift processing, receipting, database management, data integrity, reporting, list production, filing, and archiving. Advancement Services also includes the Columbia Ticket Center.

Michelle came to Columbia in the spring of 2000, where she spent four years working part time in the Alumni Relations department. In 2004, she was kidnapped by Advancement Services to work full time as the Advancement Services Assistant, where she now eats, sleeps, and dreams about data synching and data integration. Before coming to Columbia, she worked for a not-for-profit organization, where she created and maintained a database, and handled the bookkeeping and mailings.

Michelle was born and raised on Chicago’s North Side, and now lives in the suburbs with her husband, Glenn, and two of their three children. Her eldest is in the Navy, currently deployed as a Nuclear Engineer aboard a submarine. The two remaining children at home are in high school and kindergarten.

Linda began her career as a Medical Technician/Admitting Registrar at Henrotin Hospital on the north side of Chicago, where she worked for three years. After the hospital closed in 1984, she began working for Commissioner Fred Fine and later Joan Harris with the City of Chicago, Department of Cultural Affairs, as a Communications Consultant. Linda worked for 6 years with the City, mainly handling the publishing of the Daley Center Plaza’s monthly events calendar, scheduling the entertainment and time slots for daily events. In 1990, Linda left the Department of Cultural Affairs and began working at Columbia where she is also working on completing her degree.
