Development Team


The mission of development in the Office of Institutional Advancement is to secure philanthropic support to realize the college's highest priorities and fulfill its mission to be an educational, social, cultural, and creative force. We do this by building and enhancing lifelong relationships with all
the college's constituencies to encourage ongoing financial contributions.


Kim T. Clement

A member of the advancement team since spring 2004, Kim offers over 30 years of experience in higher education and non-profit organizations. She has raised funds for both the University of Chicago and DePaul University, and has served as the Vice President for Development at the Adler Planetarium. Prior to arriving at Columbia she served as Vice President of Advancement at Prevent Child Abuse America. She has been involved in five major campaigns totaling over $500 million, which included three major building projects.

She has also served on the board of the Hyde Park Historical Society, the Hyde Park Kenwood Community Conference, The Hyde Park Arts Center and Metropolis Symphony. She is the former treasurer of the DePaul University Women's Board and served as a development volunteer for the Ancona School and on the Jones College Prep Advisory Council. She has also served as a consultant to the Polish American Association, Jobs for Youth Chicago, Alfred State College (NY) and the Chicago Opera Theatre.

Kim, a Chicago native, holds a master's degree in Public Service Management from DePaul University and a bachelor's in English from the University of Illinois at Urbana. She has an eighteen-year-old daughter who is attending UIC in the fall, and resides in the South Loop.


Michael Anderson

Michael Anderson was born in Salt Lake City, Utah and raised in Juneau, Alaska.  He attended College at Southern Utah University (Cedar City, Utah), graduating with a Bachelors of Science in Communications and Marketing.  Completing his Master of Fine Arts degree in Arts Administration at Wayne State University (Detroit) through the Hilberry Repertory Theater Company.

Michael has worked at Southern Utah University as a Director of Development and was  a professional dancer for 15 years, spending most of his career with The Joffrey Ballet company, both in New York City and Chicago.  While dancing with the Joffrey, he served three years as Union Delegate, served on six negotiating committees, and served  on the National Board of Governors for the American Guild of Musical Artists (AGMA) for 9 years.

Michael has appeared in several documentaries and featured performances on PBS.  Movie credits include SAVE THE LAST DANCE and Robert Altman’s THE COMPANY, based on the life of dancers in The Joffrey Ballet.

Michael has also appeared as a guest artist with The Lyric Opera of Chicago, Nevada Dance Theatre (Las Vegas), Tulsa Ballet Theater (Tulsa, OK), Michigan Ballet Theatre (Detroit), Metropolitan Ballet of Caracas (Venezuela), and Noriko Hara Ballet Company (Hiroshima).

Accomplishments that Michael is most proud of are: his Eagle Scout badge, serving a mission for his church, being recognized by the State of Utah as an outstanding artist, serving on civic and national committees that help people in need, teaching young artists, and running the Chicago Marathon.


Chandra Dennis

Prior to joining Columbia, Chandra was the Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations for LeMoyne-Owen College in Memphis, Tennessee. During her tenure there, Chandra was responsible for a 59% increase in private and governmental funding for the College with successful grants from the Andrew Mellon Foundation, Department of Education, National Institutes of Health, City of Memphis, Community Foundation of Greater Memphis, and Department of Interior. In addition, she helped start the Children Are Restrained for Safety (CARS.Program, which because of its overwhelming success in Memphis has been duplicated in Nashville and Knoxville.

With her passion for public education and school choice, Chandra has worked as a fundraiser in the field for over 10 years. Earlier in her career, she served as a Project Coordinator for the Charter School Resource Center of Tennessee (Memphis) and the Director of Development of the Academy of Communications and Technology Charter School (Chicago).

Chandra is very active in the civic community and volunteers with small local not-for-profits and is a member of Blacks in Development (BID), Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), and National Alliance of Black School Educators (NABSE). She is also active with the Council for Advancement and Support for Education (CASE) and was name one of their 2007 Minority Advancement Fellow.

Chandra is a proud alumna of Dillard University where she received a B.A. in Political Science and Spanish and has a Masters in Public Administration specializing in Nonprofit Administration from the University of Memphis.

Kristine Chandler

Kristine Chandler joined CCC September 2007.   Her career spans 27 years of working in fund raising, public relations, special events, and community relations work.  A native of Charlevoix, Michigan, Kristine graduated with a BA in Communications /Emphasis in Radio and TV from Michigan State University and a MS in Organizational Leadership from Concordia University Ann Arbor. Her son, Nicholas, is a 2008 graduate from high school and will be playing junior hockey in the fall of 08.  Aside from her work at CCC, Kristine is an independent art curator who oversees the Emil Weddige Art Collection and Trust.   She curated, organized and executed 100 Years of Emil Weddige- Retrospective as a national traveling exhibition. The work is a collection of over 70 years of original stone lithographs.  Her personal mission statement: “Life is a process of cultivating relationships as I advocate for the causes and/or missions I deem important.”

Eva began her adventures with Columbia in March of 2006. So far it’s been grand! She’s happy to have been welcomed with open arms and minds. Mainly, Eva’s job pertains to the creation and updates of accounts within Raiser’s Edge; so if something needs to be changed on one of your constituent’s accounts, give her a call or an email. She is here to serve the college to the best of her ability, and she looks forward to working with you. As always, she encourages everyone to make the most of their day!


Ken Woodhouse

Ken joined the Office of Institutional Advancement as Stewardship Coordinator in July 2008 after a two-year tenure in the President's Office, where he served as support staff to the board of trustees and for all presidential events. In his current role, Ken is responsible for coordinating and implementing the donor acknowledgment and recognition efforts of the college; and he is working to build a more formalized stewardship and donor relations program for the institution.

Ken is a part-time graduate student at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC), where he is pursuing a master’s degree in public administration and a certificate in nonprofit management. When he's not at the office or buried in textbooks, Ken can frequently be seen on his bike somewhere along the lakefront path or singing with the Sing to Live Community Chorus. A native of Chicago, he currently lives in the Lincoln Square neighborhood.


Amy Wilson

Amy joined Columbia College in 2004 after several years of experience in researching. Before joining Columbia, Amy worked for clients that included two major Chicago medical centers and an international religious organization. Before that, she was Assistant Director of Prospect Research at the Illinois Institute of Technology for five years. A native of Lincoln, Nebraska, Amy earned her B.A. in Classics at the University of Nebraska while working as a part-time obituary writer for the Lincoln Journal-Star. She has been a volunteer writer and co-editor for the quarterly trade publication APRA Connections and a presenter at APRA conferences. Amy lives in Chicago’s Humboldt Park neighborhood with her husband Nick and son Django.
