Office of the Vice President of Institutional Advancement


Institutional Advancement is the umbrella for the Columbia College Chicago’s programs that outreach to the community, alumni, media, local government and other publics that are important to the college. We also service the college community through the development of programs that highlight achievements of students, faculty and staff.

Eric holds a Ph.D. in Administration and Higher Education from Michigan State University, an M.A. in Library Science from Atlanta University, and a B.A. in History from Morehouse College in Atlanta. He began his professional career in higher education as an Assistant Dean and Assistant Professor of Urban Development at Michigan State University. Before coming to Columbia, Eric was the Vice President for Development and University Relations at Wilberforce University in Wilberforce, Ohio. In that position, he led a strong fundraising program that achieved much success in fundraising for scholarships and engaging alumni in fundraising.

Eric’s professional distinctions include receiving the National Fund Raiser of the Year Award from the Dayton, Ohio, chapter of the National Society of Fund Raising Executives; the Wilberforce University Martin Luther King Junior Award for upholding the principles of the late religious and civil rights leader; and, speaking for the International Conference of the Council on International Education Exchange in Berlin, Germany.

Eric divides his time between Chicago and Xenia, Ohio. He is married and has two daughters and two grandchildren.

Sherron has 15+ years of experience in financial and administrative work and more than 20 years in faith-based organizations as an Associate Minister and former Youth Director. She currently serves on the Board of Directors with a ministry network here in Chicago and is involved in Senior Leadership at the church she attends in Racine, Wisconsin. Sherron enjoys watching football, and listening to gospel and smooth jazz. Sherron completed her Bachelor of Arts degree from Columbia College Chicago in Arts Entertainment Media Management/ Arts Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management in May 2008.

Sherron lives in Waukegan, Illinois, and has two children and four grandchildren.
