First-time freshmen are students who are presently in high school or have completed high school with no college experience.
Transfer students are students who have already had some college-level experience at another institution. Transfer students may learn more about transferring credits.

Student-at-Large Applicants
A student-at-large is a student, age 18 or older, who is not seeking a college degree from Columbia College Chicago. Students-at-large may be adult students seeking to enhance skills, pursue personal interests, or explore new disciplines before committing to a full degree program. Students-at-large may also be visiting students from other colleges or universities who wish to satisfy degree requirements at their ‘home’ schools or explore specific disciplines or coursework not offered at their ‘home’ schools.
