Private Loans for International Students

Foreign students must apply with a credit worthy co-borrower who is a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. Co-borrowers must provide proof of income.

International Students must be at least 18 years of age and apply with a credit-worthy individual who is a U.S Citizen or permanent resident.

International Students must have a creditworthy co-applicant that is a U.S.
Citizen or a permanent resident who has been residing in t he U.S. for the previous two years and who has been with the same employer for the previous 2 years.

If you or your co-borrower (if applicable) are not a U.S. citizen but an eligible permanent resident, you must attach a copy of both sides of your (or your co-borrower's) valid INS 551 card.

Borrower Eligibility
  • Student, borrower and co-borrower must have a valid Social Security number
  • Either the borrower or co-borrower must be a U.S. citizen or eligible permanent resident
  • Borrower and co-borrower must be at least the age of majority*
  • Any creditworthy individual with a minimum annual income of $15,000 may borrow on behalf of the student
  • Monthly debt obligations should not exceed 50% of monthly income
  • Student should apply for a Federal Stafford Loan first
