Students will have the opportunity to edit and publish an anthology of class writings at the end of the class.
Fiction Writing Workshop II*
55-0415-42 Tuesday & Thursday, 1:30 PM – 4:30 PM; 2 credits
Students will be challenged to deepen connections with voice, image, story movement, audience, and literary forms in a highly encouraging, carefully guided arena of peers. Through a broad range of stimulating Story Workshop activities designed to open fresh perceptions and directions, students will be encouraged to press their current capabilities to new levels. Modes of fiction writing that draw on dream, fantasy, and realistic telling will encourage exploration of students’ own imaginative and everyday worlds. Supportive approaches to rewriting and polishing of promising pieces will develop successful finished stories, as will the publication of a journal of class work and a culminating public reading event.
*Prerequisite: Fiction Writing Workshop I (High School Summer Institute)
