CBMR to Collaborate on “Material Social Practices: Posters as Social Media”
The CBMR will collaborate with the Center for Book and Paper Arts at Columbia College Chicago on a graduate level course in intermediate to advanced letterpress printing techniques. Students will explore the CBMR Library and Archives to identify materials relevant to the examination of the history of black music culture in print. The course will also feature a survey in historic print activism and music culture advertising. The course instructors will be April Sheridan (Studio Technician and Special Projects Coordinator, Center for Book and Paper Arts) and the renowned poster designer and printer Amos P. Kennedy. On Friday, March 22, 2013, Kennedy will present a public lecture on the history of activism through poster design. Watch the CBMR website for additional information.
