Ten
For the past decade, the Center for Community Arts Partnerships (CCAP) at Columbia College Chicago has been transforming the lives of thousands of Chicago’s young people through its unique approach to building partnerships between college and community. Founded on a mission to link the academic departments of Columbia College with diverse communities throughout the city, CCAP began its operations in partnership with four Columbia College departments (Fiction Writing, Theater, Television and Video, and Art and Design) and four community-based organizations. Over the years, CCAP has created and implemented quality arts education programs and initiatives that provide an invaluable experience of community as the larger classroom for all participants. It has grown to involve over 170 key partners, including Columbia College faculty, students, and staff; CCAP alumni and staff; artists; public schools and community-based organizations. Today, CCAP continues to bring the concepts of community-based learning, arts-integrated curricula and reciprocal partnerships into the spotlight.
