About CCAP Initiative
The Center for Community Arts Partnerships (CCAP) has played a vital role in the development, success and sustainability of the Community Schools initiative in Chicago since its inception. Working with the Chicago Public School's Office of After School and Community School Programs and the Chicago Campaign to Expand Community Schools, CCAP serves as the lead agency partner for several community schools throughout the city.
The cornerstone of CCAP's Community Schools initiative is its ability to develop strong relationships with Columbia College and participating schools. By building reciprocal partnerships between college, community and schools, the Community Schools initiative brings the experience of arts and engaged learning to all partners involved.
A variety of programs and projects are offered in each participating school that create communities of learning in and through the arts. As a result, the needs of the community and school are addressed, and families receive the necessary resources to be effective partners in their children's education.
Beginning with pilot programs in four schools in 2003, CCAP now has Community Schools programs in six Chicago schools, including:
