Raw Voices
Teens in the Media Arts
Raw Voices is an innovative youth arts festival that provides Chicago-area teens with the rare opportunity to learn about media arts, as well as showcase their work. This annual festival—held at Columbia College Chicago—attracts more than 200 youth from Chicago Public Schools. Raw Voices celebrates the work and opportunities available to teens in this vibrant industry. It features media workshops and panel discussions led by a variety of professionals in the media arts, a media fair featuring over 20 community-based organizations, and a juried teen arts showcase. Participants explore a variety of media arts from websites, blogs and computer games, to television, film and radio. They even have the opportunity to create an on-site media arts project.
Raw Voices is an initiative of Columbia College Chicago’s Undergraduate Admissions Office and the Center for Community Arts Partnerships. The festival is presented in partnership with Youth Communications/New Expression and Chicago Access Network Television.
