Convergence Academy Application Process

We want to make sure that the selected schools and their communities understand the level of commitment to the work and this partnership and are in a position that is “ready to benefit” from this opportunity. To facilitate this partnership process, we are asking all interested schools to go through a multi-step application process. 

Step 1: Email convergenceacademies@colum.edu to receive a link to the online Convergence Academy Application 

Step 2: Complete the Convergence Academy Application below

In developing a partnership, we value getting to know you and your current school climate and community. Please use the CCAP website as a way to get to know us, our philosophy and goals for the Convergence Academies project. The online application is a way for us to get to know more about you.  Please feel free to contact convergenceacademies@colum.edu if you have any additional questions. 

You will receive an email verification to the Principal's email address you provided on the application. Once we receive your application, we will contact you to scedule an information session.

Step 3: Host an information session at your school

When supporting a process of change, it is important that all stakeholders (teachers, students, parents and community members) have all the information about Convergence Model and whole-school reform process. Therefore, we are asking all interested parties to work with us on scheduling a date and time to host an awareness session at your school, facilitated by CCAP and CPS staff.

Steps 4 & 5 are for schools who have advanced in the search for Convergence Academies

Step 4: CCAP conducts interviews of key school stakeholders

A selected number of schools will be asked to participate in school-based interviews. These interviews provide both CCAP and the schools an opportunity to explore a potential partnership further. 

Step 5: Host a Convergence Professional Development with your faculty and other interested individuals. 

Staff and artists from Columbia College Chicago will come to your school and facilitate a  hands-on media-making workshop for faculty and other interested individuals (including parents, students, and community members.)  This will be a chance to get to know each other in a deeper way.

 

The school selection will be made after all the selected schools have participated in all five stages of the application process. All schools that have applied will be notified by email of their status at each stage of the application process.
