CCFO report to the College Council

The CCFO met with the Faculty Workload Committee on December 13th. The workload committee will soon embark upon town hall meetings to garner faculty feedback and support for the workload reduction proposal.

The CCFO president is a member of the President's Council. The council met Friday, December 13th. The President's council is comprised of staff and administration with the exception of Bruce Sheridan as chair of chairs, and the CCFO president as representative of faculty. Bruce was the featured speaker and gave an update on chair's council activities. The president of CCFO requested an update on faculty activities to be put on the agenda for the next President Council's meeting.

The CCFO president is a member of The Vision 2010 Committee. The Vision Committee meets every Thursday. The Vision statement has been completed. The committee is now working on goals and strategies. The CCFO has requested the vision statement be distributed for faculty comment.

The CCFO urged the formation of the Faculty Editorial Board to advise on formation of a Columbia College Press and to advise Norman Alexandroff and the Publications Office. The Faculty Editorial Board met for the first time Tuesday, January 7th. Michael Warr, acting as consultant, gave some possible models under which a press could be formed. It was agreed that the press needs a director. The Faculty Editorial Board will discuss the mission and the goals of the press in future meetings.

The CCFO Officers Meeting will be on, January 8, 2003-- to discuss rewriting the by-laws and the agenda for the Spring CCFO meeting.

The first meeting of the AD Hoc CCFO Salary and Compensation Committee meeting will be Thursday evening, January 8th.

Ongoing agenda item of CCFO is to enhance communication between the Board of Trustees and Faculty. Plans include a mixer between Board and Faculty to be held at the beginning of Spring semester, and continued discussion concerning a faculty seat on the Board of Trustees.
