COLUMBIA COLLEGE, FACULTY ORGANIZATION (CCFO)
Report to the College Council
April 8th , 2005
Report to the College Council
We wish to again state that the most significant faculty concerns are teaching load reduction, reduction in non-teaching workload, salary issues (including merit raises) and increased space and facilities in departments. On teaching load reduction, CCFO had earlier today a meeting to discuss issues of release time and stipends. We also hope that reducing non-teaching workload amongst faculty will continue to be a high priority.
CCFO is also looking at the development of a fair merit raise "system" for possible inclusion for faculty contracts for the 2006-2007 academic year. This and issues of salary equity within individual departments are current concerns of our Salary/Rank committee.
The Retreat Committee is reviewing faculty proposals for sessions and may also incorporate new faculty orientation and a tenure education session into its schedule of retreat events.
The ad hoc Civility in the Workplace committee has developed a mission statement and survey that will be soon distributed to faculty and staff for their input. We hope to look at this data and then have a presentation/meeting on this topic.
The Faculty Liaison to the Board of Trustees committee will meet with the Academic Affairs Committee of the Board of Trustees on April 20 th to express faculty concerns.
CCFO elections will be "open" shortly and will be completed hopefully by the beginning of May. We thank all who are running for committees and/or officer positions
