COLUMBIA COLLEGE, FACULTY ORGANIZATION (CCFO)
Report to the College Council
June 6th, 2005

We would like to state again what our priorities are. They are: a nine-hour teaching load and reduction in non-teaching workload; the development of a fair merit raise system and addressing the issue of salary compression and the addition of space and facilities to departments across the college. Though there is much to do to meet faculty concerns in these areas, we are encouraged with developments to this point. CCFO is also encouraged with administration efforts to streamline the tenure process, add new full-time faculty to the college and in efforts to equalize committee demands.

We have completed our elections and results are known. Our lunch on May 11th was successful and we thank the Provost for attending. In addition, CCFO officers had a productive meeting with the Provost on May 16th. CCFO officers [current and in-coming] will have a meeting with President Carter on June 13th.

During this summer, CCFO will refine the workplace civility survey, work with the Provost's office on the teaching load reduction plan, continue to improve communication with part-time faculty and the staff and finalize plans for the All-College Retreat.
