COLUMBIA COLLEGE, FACULTY ORGANIZATION (CCFO)
Report to the College Council
November 4th, 2005

On October 25th, the Faculty Liaison to the Board of Trustees Committee met with the Academic Affairs Committee of the Board of Trustees. Topics discussed at this meeting included improving communication between the faculty and trustees, results of the CCFO survey and maintaining the mission of the college through increased scholarship support. It is our understanding that we will have an opportunity to make a presentation at a special meeting of this Board of Trustees Committee in December where the teaching load adjustment plan will be discussed in earnest. It is also our understanding that the faculty will address the full Board of Trustees at their December meeting.

CCFO officers met with the President and Provost also on October 25th . This meeting addressed a variety of topics including, in part: the teaching load adjustment plan; merit raises; employee benefits at the college, administrator evaluation and fundraising efforts.

CCFO had a caucus immediately before this meeting and we plan to have a membership meeting at the end of this month to discuss faculty governance.

Though we are quite encouraged with recent progress with the teaching load adjustment plan, space issues and recent communications with the administration and the Board of Trustees, we are very concerned with issues dealing with faculty hiring practices and health care benefits.
