COLUMBIA COLLEGE, FACULTY ORGANIZATION (CCFO)
Report to the College Council
February 3rd, 2006
CCFO is pleased that the teaching load reduction "plan" has been approved of by the Academic Affairs Committee of the Board of Trustees and by the full Board of Trustees itself. We are grateful to the Provost for releasing the executive summary for the plan, holding meetings by schools to discuss this plan and for the implementation "team" that will work to make this plan a reality for the Fall 2006 semester.
CCFO and the Provost's Office had a successful Holiday Lunch on Wednesday December 7th. The CCFO President had the opportunity to speak to the full Board of Trustees on Thursday December 15th and present faculty concerns to the members of the Board.
We have released a list of our priorities for the spring semester to the college community earlier this week. CCFO officers will meet with the President and Provost next week Thursday. A CCFO meeting to discuss merit raises and conduct nominations for committee and officer positions for our upcoming election will be held on Tuesday February 21st.
In closing, we have formed a committee to address academic freedom issues at the college and we request that the full text of the report from the Institutional Performance Survey be released to the college community as soon as possible.
