COLUMBIA COLLEGE, FACULTY ORGANIZATION (CCFO)
Report to the College Council
2 February 2007
CCFO has been involved in several meetings/events over the course of the last two months. On December 1st, the CCFO President met with the SGA President. On December 6th, the CCFO President made a presentation at a meeting of the Chair's Council that dealt with base salary increase, merit raises, salary compression and on-line evaluation of faculty. Meetings with the Provost occurred on December 13th and January 24th and covered the topics of conditions of classrooms, on-line evaluation of faculty, the listed date for the Faculty Convocation [Tuesday, March 27th], the Center for Innovation, institutional hiring initiatives, the previously proposed 5-8% base salary raise for faculty, merit raises and salary compression. On December 14th, a meeting with the Vice President of Finance explored pension and prescription drug benefits; a follow-up meeting on these topics will be this upcoming Monday. A final meeting of note was held between the CCFO President and the Deputy Provost on January 31st.
We had a very successful event for first-year faculty on January 25th. Presenters at this event included David Noffs, who gave a trouble-shooting session on OASIS, and Deputy Provost Love who spoke on advising initiatives here at the college.
We are pleased with our inclusion on the TLA implementation team, the Rank/Promotion Task Force and also being asked to submit names to be on the Provost's "body" to review the tenure process and for the 2008 All-College Faculty Retreat Planning Committee.
Our nominations phase for our spring elections will begin on February 12th and will close with our spring general meeting that will be held at the end of February. We anticipate having our election in early to mid March with results to be "certified" by the end of March.
