Civic Engagement in the Classroom

Facilitated by Lott Hill, CTE Acting Director,
and Paul Teruel, Center for Community Arts Partnerships, Director of Community Partnerships

The College mission states, in part, “Columbia conducts education in close relationship to a vital urban reality and serves important civic purpose by active engagement in the life and culture of the city of Chicago."  From Critical Encounters to the Center for Community Arts Partnerships to academic Service-Learning, civic engagement is an important part of the education we offer our students.  Join Lott Hill and Paul Teruel for a look at some of the many approaches to civic engagement and consider how the principles and best practices of Service-Learning might enhance the curricula of the classes you teach.
