Koosil-ja/danceKUMIKO

February 4, 5 & 6 * 8:00 p.m.

Radical New York-based performance-technology artist Koosil-ja Hwang is always seeking new means of expression. At The Dance Center, the daring Bessie Award and Guggenheim Fellowship-winning choreographer-dancer will present Blocks of Continuality/Body, Image, and Algorithm, an electrifying new experimental new multi-media performance piece. In Blocks, Koosil-ja demonstrates her concept that body, space and objects have two natures – actual and virtual, as part of her continuous study of the “evolution of the body in the digital era and its realm of domain and identity.” In this new piece, Koosil-ja mixes elements of movement, music and a live 3-D performance environment with her own aesthetic context, creating an innovative blend of modern and traditional, digital and flesh. Collaborating artists include David Or, Robert Ramirez, Geoff Matters and Melissa Guerrero.
