Loop Diver, by Oscar Sol

Troika Ranch

March 4, 5 & 6 * 8:00 p.m.

Troika Ranch employs complex technology and digital media, intertwined with original music and live performance. Founders, Mark Coniglio (composer and tech whiz) and Dawn Stoppiello (choreographer), recently completed a grueling two-year development process to create Loop Diver, an evening-length multimedia work. Loop Diver is built completely from interwoven loops of movement, text, music and interactive visuals. The intricate sequences offer both comfort in the repeated experiences and the potential for a dangerous and numbing prison of the expected. These strict rational patterns, dictated by a computer, will be interrupted, reshaped and renewed by loop divers—dancers who aim to shatter the loops’ structure. Performers improvise shocking attempts to break the pattern by busting out of the choreography, provoking the past, present and future of this world and redirecting the course of action in each performance.
