It’s the collective arc of the performance that hits the heartstrings, thanks in part due to Rosenthal’s ability to bring out the best, uninhibited physicality from her dancers” — Time Out Chicago
Two Chicago-based companies—Same Planet Different World Dance Theatre (SPDW) and Peter Carpenter Performance Project—are joining forces for a shared program. SPDW is commissioning a new work from Israeli-trained (now based in New York) choreographer Netta Yerushalmy, The Force Backwards, inspired by visual art evoking a stroll through an art museum. SPDW’s artistic director Joanna Rosenthal’s new work Whiteout examines impulsive behavior with the central metaphor of a “white out” suggesting a sense of moral decentered-ness. Peter Carpenter will continue his cycle with Rituals of Abundancefor Lean Times #10: Entanglements of Power, a new work informed by critical theory that interrogates our appetite for domination, power and violence.
