Conditions of Database Use
All images included in the database are documentation-quality only and are not intended for publication. Images are protected by copyright and belong to Columbia College Chicago, which reserves all rights. Publication-quality images may be requested for a charge. For permission to photograph resources, contact the curator.
The Fashion Columbia Study Collection database is in place as a tool to facilitate research for students, faculty and independent researchers; it also serves to prepare in advance for a visit to the Study Collection. Searching the database saves time and helps focus the purpose of the visit, whether it is for class tours and demonstrations, design inspiration or historic research. After selecting artifacts from the database the user should contact the curator or collections manager to make an appointment to view the artifacts.
Information about each item comes from several sources: donor correspondence, primary and secondary references and visual inspection of the items. Although great effort is made to ensure accuracy, some inaccuracies may exist. If errors are found, please contact the curator; when the errors have been verified, corrections will be made.
Note to the Students, Faculty and Independent Researchers
The database is an on-going project; as each artifact is catalogued the details and an image are put into the database. If you are searching for something specific and it doesn't appear in the database, e-mail the curator with questions, because there is a possibility we may have it but may not have entered it into the database yet.
Donations
Fashion Columbia Study Collection welcomes donations of clothing, textiles, accessories, fashion periodicals, videos and other illustrative materials.
