Student and Donors Mingle with Author, Blogger, Political Analyst Arianna Huffington
Noted author, political commentator and cofounder of The Huffington Post, Arianna Huffington visited campus on January 27 for a public lecture with a standing-room-only crowd as part of Columbia College Chicago's Conversations in the Arts: Media in the 21st Century. Prior to the presentation, she held a student-only discussion that included a lively Q & A session ranging from political and social issues to the arts funding. She also was the special guest at a private reception for Columbia college faculty, staff and donors following the lecture.Huffington, who launched the Huffington Post in May 2005, has authored 12 books and co-hosts Left, Right & Center, National Public Radio's popular political roundtable program. The news and blog site for which she is best known quickly became one of the most widely read and frequently cited media brands on the Internet. A year later, in 2006, Huffington was named to the Time 100, Time magazine's list of the world's 100 most influential people.
