Taking Park City Screening
Columbia College Chicago recently hosted a screening of the 30-minute documentary, Taking Park City, which follows the journey of two alumni, Norman Franklin '10 & Tanya Savard '10, as they navigate the rough terrain of the entertainment industry via the gateway lenses of the 2011 Sundance Film Festival. The expedition uncovers high expectations, high stakes, and high drama as these burgeoning filmmakers make the most of opportunities to get noticed and make a splash with industry elite.
About 100 alumni and friends of Columbia College attended the event hosted at Film Row Cinema. The screening was followed by a Q&A session with filmmakers. The documentary was produced by film student Dimitri William Moore and directed by alumnus Vince Singleton '08. Taking Park City was underwritten by a grant to Columbia College Chicago and hosted by TV journalist Michelle Alegria '97 and Susanna Negovan, editor of Michigan Avenue Magazine.
After initial airings on Chicago's public broadcasting station WTTW-TV in April, the documentary will make the rounds of film festivals throughout the year.
