Alumni

In Spring 2007,

Columbia College Chicago distributed a survey to the
graduating classes of 1996 and 2001. The Five & Ten Year
Alumni Survey is a tool used by the College to better
understand the current employment and educational status
of students who graduated in those cohorts. The survey
measures the attitudes and satisfaction of graduates
concerning faculty, curriculum, facilities, services
and campus life at Columbia College Chicago. In
total, 450 alumni responded to the survey. It is hoped
that the information provided by alumni, based on their
experiences at the college and within the workplace, will
provide Columbia College Chicago with additional insight
into what programs and policies have a positive impact
on the student alumni and their communities as well as
information that can guide institutional improvement.

While Columbia College Chicago has, on a regular basis,
surveyed its alumni a year after they graduate, this is the first
time the College has evaluated the long term impact of a
Columbia College Chicago education and the relationship
between graduates’ program and student experiences and
their subsequent employment, income, civic participation,
and well-being. In addition, this study has drawn on a
variety of public domain data from the U.S. Department
of Commerce, the U.S. Department of Labor, and national
longitudinal studies from the U.S. Department of Education
(such as the Baccalaureate and Beyond and the High School
and Beyond surveys), and other Columbia College Chicago
studies to provide contextual information.

Columbia College Chicago alumni are also encouraged to join the Columbia College Chicago alumni community.  Information is available through the alumni relations office at htt://www2.colum.edu/alumni if you would like more information regrading the community or other services available to alumni.
