Suzuki Instruction
Developed by Japanese music educator Shinichi Suzuki, this instrument learning method is designed to teach children as young as three.
Through the Suzuki method:
Young children master basic musical skills, improve listening ability, and acquire physical comfort with their instrument and with performing.
Intermediate and advanced students learn to read music, improve technical proficiency, and play skill-specific repertoire.
The individual lesson and group-class format motivates children to excel in their musical studies and celebrate their accomplishments.

PLEASE NOTE: Participation in Sherwood’s Suzuki program requires enrollment in individual lessons AND group class. Any exceptions must be approved by the Director of Academic Affairs and the head of the Suzuki Department.
Enrollment requires attendance by the student and a parent or caregiver at a weekly individual lesson and a weekly group class for students at the same level of ability. Parents new to Sherwood and the Suzuki method are required to enroll in a parent class that introduces them to the Suzuki method and their important role in their child’s education. Sherwood’s comprehensive program offers Suzuki instruction on seven instruments.
