Valerie Simosko
Flute
Valerie Simosko was Principal Flutist of the Charlotte Symphony for 25 years. She also performed with the Atlanta and Youngstown Symphony Orchestras.
An active soloist, chamber musician, and avid music supporter in the Charlotte area, she was the President of the Board of the Friends of Music at Queens College and the founder of the Charlotte Junior Youth Symphony and Charlotte Junior Flute Choir. Her teaching in the area spanned universities, youth orchestras, flute choirs and private students as well as music theory and music appreciation. Many of her students have attained professional music careers and won top prizes in competitions.
In 2005 she took on a career in the music industry, in which she was responsible for developing and marketing the Azumi, Galway Spirit and Avanti flutes for the Altus Flute Co. and Conn-Selmer. New to the Chicago area, she currently resides in Rogers Park where she owns and operates The Flute Enterprise in order to continue her multi-faceted work in all things flute. She is a board member of the Chicago Flute Club and editor of its newsletter, Pipeline.
