Uriel joined the music faculty at Sherwood in the fall of 2009. Uriel earned his Bachelor of Music degree in trumpet performance from Western Michigan University in 2009. As a Russell Brown Scholar at Western Michigan University, Uriel was involved in a wide array of various musical groups, performing with the Symphony Orchestra, Symphonic Band, Collegiate Singers, and two downbeat award winning groups, the Western Michigan University Jazz Orchestra and Western Michigan University's Gold Company. Uriel earned his Master of Music Education Degree from VanderCook College of Music in 2011.

Having a strong background in classical music, commercial/ pop music and music education, Uriel brings a practical and inclusive approach to instruction. In addition to teaching at Sherwood, Uriel teaches guitar classes at Congregation B'nai Tikvah in Deerfield, private guitar and trumpet lessons to private students all over the city and is an active composer and freelance performer. Uriel enjoys nature, sound manipulation and free improvisation.
