Sherwood Conservatory of Music

WELCOME TO THE 2008/2009 SCHOOL YEAR!

These are exciting times for Sherwood! In addition to group classes for all ages and Individual Lessons in 15 instruments and voice, we are launching two new programs this Fall:

   - The Pre-Collegiate Certificate Program
   - Jazz Studies

Bringing together Sherwood's tradition and Columbia Music's cutting edge, The Pre-Collegiate Certificate Program will prepare talented students for entrance to the professional college/conservatory of their choice. A unique aspect of this program is training in a diversity of musical styles ranging from classical to urban contemporary.

Interested in learning about Jazz and Blues repertoire, chord structures, and improvisation? The new Jazz Studies program will offer Individual Lessons in Electric Guitar, Jazz Combos for Teens, and the "Jazz and Contemporary Styles for Piano." In addition, advanced students on electric guitar can step up to a new intensive program designed by Frank Dawson, internationally recognized jazz artist and member of the Chicago Jazz Ensemble. This three-part immersion includes advanced Individual Lessons in Jazz Electric Guitar, Guitar Techniques Group Class, and Guitar Ensemble.
