About 25 years.
Briefly describe your musical pursuits outside Sherwood.
Attending concerts; member of Society of American Musicians and Chicago Area Music Teacher Association; giving lecture recitals on piano and harpsichord; duo piano work.
What do you want to impart to your students through your teaching?
A love of music, and the discipline necessary in order to share music with others.
Are there specific methods or techniques that you use in your teaching that may be important to share with prospective students?
My technical training (which I share) dates back to Leschetitsky.
What do you enjoy most about teaching?
Seeing my students develop in the love of music and the artistry of sharing it.
What is your best musical memory?
My Dad’s gift to me of a Steinway Grand.
Please describe one of your favorite mentors.
The Cuban concert pianist Jorge Bolet, with whom I studied at Indiana University.
What is your favorite type of music?
Mozart and Bach and whatever I’m working on at the time. My favorite periods are probably Classic, Baroque, and Romantic (in that order).
