How long have you been on Faculty at Sherwood Conservatory of Music?
Since 2001

Briefly describe your musical pursuits outside Sherwood.
Freelance cello performer and music educator.

What do you want to impart to your students through your teaching?
A joy of music and self-confidence.

Are there specific methods or techniques that you use in your teaching that may be important to share with prospective students?
I am very energetic and enjoy using the child’s ideas to make new learning games. I provide structure when needed, but a lot of times I’m more free-form during lessons. I am very insistent on consistent, daily practice!

What do you enjoy most about teaching?
Learning from my students, feeling energy and excitement from young kids.

What is your earliest musical experience?
My mother and I sat on the living room floor listening to her collection of classical music records. We did this every morning from the time I was about 1 year old until I began school.

Please describe one of your favorite teachers.
He was always interested in pursuits outside of music - my whole self, not just how I play the assignment.

What is your favorite type of music?
I enjoy improvising with singer/songwriters, in the folk and pop styles.
