Housing Pre-Payment
- A $500 pre-payment is required to secure a room when a student submits a signed Housing Contract to the Residence Life office. The pre-payment is credited toward your first semester housing costs. This pre-payment is an out-of-pocket expense. It cannot be covered by financial aid from federal, state, institutional or private sources, including loans, as those funds are not typically disbursed to students until the school year begins. We regret that we are not able to waive or defer the pre-payment for any student.
Methods of Payment:
- 1. Checks need to be made payable to Columbia College Chicago. Please include your OASIS ID number on the check.
- 2. Credit Card payments can be made at http://www.colum.edu/onlinepayment.
- 3. Cash payments can be made at the cashier’s office on the 3rd floor of the 600 S. Michigan Avenue building. The Residence Life Office cannot accept cash. Please bring your paid receipt to the Residence Life Office.
- The $500 Housing Pre-payment Defer charge is applied to the student’s account and remains until the first billing for the fall semester. In early August, 2009, the fall semester tuition and housing charges will post on the student’s tuition account and the pre-payment will be credited toward the fall 2009 charges. If a contract is cancelled, the pre-payment is non-refundable.
- Your $500 housing prepayment is refundable only until May 1, 2009. Requests must be written and emailed to residencelife@colum.edu. If you have an existing student account balance, your $500.00 prepayment will be applied towards your overall balance. If you do not have a student account balance, Student Financial Services will issue a refund. Please note that credit card payments are credited back to the credit card.
- *Refund requests may take a minimum of 7 - 10 business days to be issued.
- If you miss the May 1st refund deadline, you may be released from any further financial obligations of your housing contract, but you will not receive a refund on your $500.00 prepayment.
