Bob Enrietto Scholarship

The Bob Enrietto Scholarship application is available online through your OASIS portal. Only complete scholarship applications submitted by the deadline will be reviewed by the scholarship committee.

Please follow all directions carefully. Students must submit the following materials to make a complete Bob Enrietto Scholarship application - there are three parts to the application:

Provide a brief description of your most significant creative work completed thus far at Columbia.

In 500 to 1,000 words, explain why you have chosen to attend the Semester in L.A., and where you plan to be in five years.

This application requires two letters of recommendation from faculty members in your major department who can comment on your accomplishments, talents, or abilities in that major. If possible, a recommendation from the Chairperson or Associate Chairperson of your department is encouraged.

Note: Remember to contact your recommender directly before providing his/her information on the application. Be sure to give faculty members as much time as possible to write the letters. Requests made at the last minute are often difficult for faculty to fulfill by the deadline.

1. Applicant Portal: You may scroll through the list of scholarship programs until you locate the Bob Enrietto Scholarship, and then select the "Start Application" link.

1. Scholarship Search: Select the "Search Scholarships" link in the navigation on the left-hand side of the page. You may search for the Bob Enrietto Scholarship by using category, keyword, or description/name search. Once you locate the program, select the "More Info" link to be taken to the application form.

Robert F. Enrietto Jr. was a production manager, assistant director, producer, and administrator of Columbia College Chicago's Semester in L.A. program. A Chicago native and 1967 graduate of Columbia, Enrietto had movie credits that included Harold and Maude, Tora! Tora! Tora!, Phantom of the Paradise, and The Outside Man, among others. His TV credits include In the Heat of the Night, Remington Steele, Behind Enemy Lines, Something About Amelia, Little House on the Prairie, and Hawaii Five-O, among many others.

His most cherished accomplishment was the creation of Columbia College Chicago's Semester in L.A. program, which he created together with fellow instructor Don Smith. Believing that the college should have a presence in Hollywood, Bob helped to develop a program of classes based at CBS Studio Center in Studio City, CA, which today includes screenwriting, adaptation, entertainment marketing, producing, comedy writing for television, costume design, development, directing, music composition for the screen, and music producing.

• Application must be submitted by the stated deadline for review by the committee
• Maximum amount of this one-semester scholarship is $1500
• The award is applied toward tuition costs
• Recipient may receive the award only during the semester in which they live in L.A. as part of the Semester in L.A. program
• Students who elect not to attend the semester in L.A. program will forfeit the scholarship and will need to reapply if they decide to attend in another semester
• Recipient must be enrolled full-time in the Semester in L.A. program and must adhere to the policies and procedures that are unique to the program
• Recipient will be asked to submit a short biography describing their background and life goals that will be shared with donors; portions of the essay may also be used for publication
• The rules and regulations governing other sources of financial aid (federal, state, institutional and other grants, gifts, or loans) will apply
• Columbia College Chicago reserves the right to withhold the award in any year in which, at the sole discretion of the scholarship committee, suitable candidates cannot be found among applicants
