Clarke A. Greene Memorial Scholarship for Entrepreneurial Spirit

The Clarke A. Greene Memorial Scholarship application is available online through your OASIS portal. Only complete scholarship applications submitted by the deadline will be reviewed by the scholarship committee.

Please follow all directions carefully. Students must submit the following materials to make a complete Clarke A. Greene Memorial Scholarship application - there are three parts to the application:

PART 1: BIOGRAPHY

Provide a 250-word biography that tells the committee something about you, your background, and your life goals.

Your biography must be double-spaced and must include your name and OASIS ID number in the upper right-hand corner of the page. Please upload your response in .pdf, .doc, or .docx format.


PART 2: ESSAY

In a 500-word essay, discuss a project that illustrates your current ability and interest in running a business. Explain how your work in your major has contributed to the development of your entrepreneurial spirit and how this scholarship will help you work towards becoming an entrepreneur in the field of arts management.

Your essay must be double-spaced, and include your name and OASIS ID number in the upper right-hand corner of each page. Please upload your response in .pdf, .doc, or .docx format.


PART 3: LETTER OF RECOMMENDATION

One letter of recommendation is required from a Columbia College Chicago faculty member who is familiar with your academic achievements or how you have applied yourself in your major.

For your convenience, the online application system will send an e-mail notification directly to the person you've chosen to complete your recommendation. This person will be invited to complete the recommendation online with ease and will not need to mail, fax, or e-mail their recommendation. Please be prepared with the e-mail address of the person making the recommendation.

Note: Remember to contact your recommender directly before providing his/her information on the application. Be sure to give faculty members as much time as possible to write the letters. Requests made at the last minute are often difficult for faculty to fulfill by the deadline.

Online applications are available through your OASIS portal. Login to your portal and select the Scholarships tab at the top of the screen. Follow the link Apply Now for Columbia Scholarships to your Applicant Portal landing page

There are two ways to locate the Clarke A. Greene Memorial Scholarship application:

1. Applicant Portal: You may scroll through the list of scholarship programs until you locate the Clarke A. Greene Memorial Scholarship, and then select the "Start Application" link.
2. Scholarship Search: Select the "Search Scholarships" link in the navigation on the left-hand side of the page. You may search for the Clarke A. Greene Memorial Scholarship by using category, keyword, or description/name search. Once you locate the program, select the "More Info" link to be taken to the application form.

• Application must be submitted by February 01, 2013 (11:59 pm) for review by the committee
• Maximum award of this one-year scholarship is $1,850, awarded half in Fall 2013 and half Spring 2014
• Recipients who graduate in Fall 2013 will receive a one-semester award up to $925
• The award is applied toward tuition costs
• Students must be enrolled as full-time Arts Management (AEMM) students at the time of application and must maintain full-time enrollment during the 2013-14 academic year
• Students must have completed a minimum of 60 credit hours at Columbia at the time of application
• Students must maintain a grade point average of 3.5 or higher
• Students who are not selected to receive the award may compete in subsequent years provided they continue to meet eligibility criteria
• Scholarship may not be used toward independent study abroad programs.Please note: Recipients who enroll in an independent study abroad program will forfeit their scholarship during the semester spent abroad
• Recipients will be asked to submit a short biography describing their background and life goals that will be shared with donors. Portions of the essay may also be used for publication
• The rules and regulations governing other sources of financial aid (federal, state, institutional and other grants, gifts, or loans) will apply
• Columbia College Chicago reserves the right to withhold the award in any year in which, at the sole discretion of the scholarship committee, suitable candidates cannot be found among applicants
