Forest Foundation Dance Scholarship

The Forest Foundation Dance Scholarship application is available online through your OASIS portal. Only complete scholarship applications submitted by the deadline will be reviewed by the scholarship committee.

Please follow all directions carefully. Students must submit the following materials to make a complete Forest Foundation Dance Scholarship application - there are two parts to the application:

In a one- to two-page essay, please address the following:

• List and describe the programs, projects, and happenings you have participated in at The Dance Center and/or within the Chicago dance community. This can include performing, attending workshops, teaching, etc.
• Explain how you serve as a role model for other students.
• What are some of your goals and dreams for your dance career?

You may select your best work to illustrate your accomplishments in your concentration of teaching, choreography, or performance. Select one of the following:

• VIDEO: 2-5 minute excerpt of your teaching, choreography or performance
• WRITING SAMPLE: 150 word Dance Studies essay

1. Applicant Portal: You may scroll through the list of scholarship programs until you locate the Forest Foundation Dance Scholarship, and then select the "Start Application" link.


2. Scholarship Search: Select the "Search Scholarships" link in the navigation on the left-hand side of the page. You may search for the Forest Foundation Dance Scholarship by using category, keyword, or description/name search. Once you locate the program, select the "More Info" link to be taken to the application form.

• Go to OASIS portal

• Application must be submitted by February 15, 2012 (11:59 pm) for review by the committee
• Maximum amount of this one-year award is $1,500, half awarded in Fall 2012 and half in Spring 2013
• Award is applied toward tuition and fee costs
• Students must be enrolled as full-time students at the time of application and must maintain full-time enrollment during the 2012-13 academic year
• Students who are not selected to receive the award may compete in subsequent years
• Scholarship may not be used toward any independent study abroad programs
• Recipients will be asked to submit a short biography describing their background and life goals, which will be shared with donors; portions of the essay may also be used for publication
• The rules and regulations governing other sources of financial aid (federal, state, institutional and other grants, gifts, or loans) will apply
• Columbia College Chicago reserves the right to withhold the award in any year in which, at the sole discretion of the scholarship committee, suitable candidates cannot be found among applicants. The scholarship committee has the further discretion to award fewer than two scholarships in any year in which, at it sole discretion, suitable candidates are not found among applicants
