The JGS Scholarship was established to assist outstanding Dance/Movement Therapy and Counseling students who demonstrate financial need.
The JGS Scholarship application is available online through your OASIS portal. Only complete scholarship applications submitted by the deadline will be reviewed by the scholarship committee.
Please follow all directions carefully. Students must submit the following materials to make a complete JGS Scholarship application - there are two parts to the application:
Submit a one- to two-page statement describing your merit and financial need.
Your essay must be double-spaced and must include your name and OASIS ID number in the upper right-hand corner of the page. Please upload your response in .pdf, .doc, or .docx format.A current Student Aid Report (SAR) must be on file. To receive an SAR, students must complete a financial aid application (FAFSA), available after January 1st of each year.

Online applications are available through your OASIS portal. Login to your portal and select the Scholarships tab at the top of the screen. Follow the link Apply Now for Columbia Scholarships to your Applicant Portal landing page.Jane Ganet-Sigel is a registered dance movement therapist and one of the 73 founding members of the American Dance/Movement Therapy Association. She is the founder and former chairperson of the graduate program in dance/movement therapy at Columbia College Chicago. Ganet-Sigel has been a supervisor, teacher, trainer, and private practice therapist. She has conducted workshops throughout the United States, and in China, Argentina, and Mexico. She is formerly the Director of the Creative Workshop of Dance and Drama.
Ganet-Sigel has worked in and been a consultant to various hospitals, institutions, mental health agencies, and schools for a variety of patient populations. She is married to Melvin Sigel and had four children, four step-children, twenty-one grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. It is with great pleasure that the Dance/Movement Therapy department establishes a scholarship fund in recognition of such an important pioneer.
