Kolcraft Study Abroad Fund

for continuing undergraduate students

The Kolcraft Study Abroad Scholarship was established to assist one outstanding full-time undergraduate Art and Design student at Columbia College Chicago defray summer 2014 in Florence Study Abroad tuition costs. Scholarship award is based on academic achievement and demonstration of financial need. The total amount of the award is $1,500 for Summer 2014. The Summer in Florence 4-week program offers 6 courses taught by Columbia faculty in the heart of central Florence. Courses are taught at the facilities of Scuola Lorenzo de’ Medici (LdM), located in ten buildings (totaling 4800 square meters) in the historic city center next to the thriving San Lorenzo market and church, and close to transport facilities. Florence’s unique architectural masterpiece, il Duomo is within a few minutes’ walk. Together, the LdM buildings contain a full range of facilities including numerous classrooms and large specialized art studios, a cafeteria, a courtyard garden, a library, printing facilities and a computer center.

Deadline to Apply- DEADLINE HAS BEEN EXTENDED: April 11, 2014

The Kolcraft Study Abroad Fund is open to:

  • Students enrolled as a full-time Art and Design majors at the time of application
  • Students who have applied to the Summer 2014 Study Abroad in Florence, Italy at the time of application
  • Completed (at the time of application) a minimum of 12 semester hours of course work at Columbia
  • Students who have earned a grade point average at Columbia College Chicago of 3.0 or above
  • Students who demonstrate financial need through a completed Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

Award based on:

  • Academic merit and financial need

Award amount:

  • Up to $1,500, awarded in Summer 2014

Notification of the award:

  • All applicants will be notified by the scholarship committee by March 31, 2014 . We regret that we are unable to give information regarding the committee's decisions over the telephone or by email.
