Pieter Ombregt Scholarship

The Pieter Ombregt Scholarship application is available online through your OASIS portal. Only complete scholarship applications submitted by the deadline will be reviewed by the scholarship committee.

Please follow all directions carefully. Students must submit the following materials to make a complete Pieter Ombregt Scholarship application - there are two parts to the application:

You must deliver your portfolio to the Photography Department (600 S Michigan, suite 1200), attention Laura Bauknecht, in a protective container/portfolio case. Your submitted portfolio should consist of the following:

1. Cover sheet. Download the cover sheet form HERE. It must be filled out and attached to the front of your container/portfolio case.
2. 15-20 images. Work from one or two sustained projects is recommended. A portfolio that demonstrates an ambitious commitment to exploring one subject or idea is an important plus.
3. Please submit a consistent set of (matted or unmatted) prints. No slides or digital submissions will be accepted.
4. Only one set of work is required, regardless of how many scholarships are being applied for.

Provide a statement describing the work samples you are submitting.

Access online application form through OASIS portal:

1. Applicant Portal: You may scroll through the list of scholarship programs until you locate the Pieter Ombregt Scholarship, and then select the "Start Application" link.


2. Scholarship Search: Select the "Search Scholarships" link in the navigation on the left-hand side of the page. You may search for the Pieter Ombregt Scholarship by using category, keyword, or description/name search. Once you locate the program, select the "More Info" link to be taken to the application form.

Pieter Ombregt was a gifted photography student at Columbia College Chicago when he died from injuries sustained in a bicycle racing accident in 2007. This scholarship was established in honor of Pieter's life and memory by his aunt, Anne-Marie Ombregt.

• Application must be submitted by February 1, 2013 (11:59 pm) for review by the committee
• Maximum award amount is $750
• Awardees must be enrolled full-time as Photography majors and have one full year of undergraduate study remaining
• Columbia College Chicago reserves the right to withhold the award in any year in which, at the sole discretion of the scholarship committee, suitable candidates cannot be found among applicants
