Transfer Student Scholarship
for incoming transfer students
The Transfer Student Scholarship was established to assist outstanding incoming transfer students defray the cost of tuition.
The number of awards each year varies and is dependent upon funding.

The Transfer Student Scholarship is open to:
- Outstanding transfer students who have earned no more than 60 transferable college credit hours from an accredited college, university, or community college
- Students who have earned high academic achievement from the college or university most recently attended
- Students who have a completed Admissions file received by the Undergraduate Admissions Office before February 1, 2013
- Students who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents
- Students who understand that they must enter Columbia College in Fall 2013 as a full-time student and maintain full-time enrollment
- Students who demonstrate financial need through a completed Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

- Academic achievement and financial need
Renewable award amount:
- Up to $5000 per academic year
Notification of the award:
- Recipients will be notified by the scholarship committee by mail by March 31, 2013. We regret that we are unable to give information regarding the committee's decisions over the telephone or by email.
No separate application is required.
- All incoming transfer students who meet the eligibility requirements and who have completed a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by February 1, 2013 are automatically considered.
- Awards are based on review of applicant's admissions file and demonstration of financial need through a completed FAFSA.
- The Columbia College Chicago Transfer Student Scholarship is automatically renewable until 120 credit hours are earned for students seeking a BA, 128 hours for students seeking a BFA or BMus. The total credit hours include all transferable college credit hours and credit hours earned at Columbia College Chicago. For the scholarship to be renewable, the recipient must:
- be enrolled as a full-time student each semester
- not interrupt enrollment
- maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average
- continue to complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) every January for the subsequent academic year, and this application must demonstrate continued financial need
- Award amount is up to $5000 per academic year, awarded half in Fall and half in Spring
- The Columbia College Chicago Transfer Student Scholarship is applied toward tuition only
- Award may not be used toward independent study abroad programs
- This award is based on academic and financial need information provided to the college at the time of admission. Any subsequent, additional, or clarifying data that significantly alters this information may make a recipient ineligible to receive this award
- The rules governing other sources of financial aid (federal, state, institutional and other grants, gifts, or loans) will apply
