Money Part Workshop

Financing your education is an on-going process that requires significant planning and follow-up and we’re here to help.  “The Money Part” is an intimate workshop, hosted by the Office of Student Financial Services and the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, designed to assist students and their families understand and begin this process.

In the workshop we will discuss:
  • 1) The benefits of planning early
  • 2) The cost of tuition, books, room and board, and other typical college expenses
  • 3) Different options available to help finance your education including: federal aid (FAFSA), scholarships, loans, grants, and out-of-pocket payments
  • 4) How to create a Financial Plan that works for you

How to get the most out of the workshop experience:
  • We suggest you to complete the following steps prior to attending the workshop.
  • 1) Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), which includes Columbia’s school code – 001665.  (Complete a 2009-2010 FAFSA if you will be starting Spring 2010 or a 2010-2011 FAFSA available after January 2010 if you will be starting Fall 2010.)
  • 2) Create a list of questions you currently have regarding college expenses and how to pay for them
  • 3) Come prepared with an idea of your desired enrollment status (i.e. part-time vs. full-time), and housing choices (i.e. commuter, residing with parents, living on campus)

  • Click here to RSVP.  Log in as a First Time User, select the Workshop Appointment Type, choose the Money Part Service and the date you’d like to attend.  You will be asked your contact information and your current status in the planning process.  Once you complete the RSVP process you will receive a confirmation email.
