The Student Senate consists of:
- 5 executive board members (President, Executive Vice-President, Vice President of Communications, Vice President of Finance, and Student Representative on the Board of Trustees)
- 1 senator from the Graduate School
- 1 senator from Student Organization Council
- 2 senators from Residence Hall Association
- 1 senator from the Interdisciplinary major
- 1 senator from each major undergraduate department in which a student can major as defined by the Office of the Provost
- 9 at-large senators (any majors or undecided)
- Secretary of Internal Affairs
- Press Secretary
- Secretary of External Affairs
- Secretary of Internal Affairs
- Student Life Liaison
- Any other titled position appointed by the SGA President

Advisor
The SGA Advisor shall be selected by the Dean of Students to advise the SGA, explain college policy and logistical procedures whenever relevant, and to meet and plan with the SGA President and SGA Treasurer respectively. To ensure regular communications between its two governance bodies, a faculty advisor shall be appointed for the SGA.
Requirements
Each member of SGA during their nomination and term of office must meet the following requirements:
- Be enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate students who has completed the equivalent to one semester's work at Columbia College Chicago
- Cumulative GPA of 2.5
- Adhere to the Columbia College Code of Conduct

SGA Task Force
The Student Government Association Task Force was formed in the Spring semester of 2002. The Task Force was comprised of eight students, one faculty member and two staff members from the Office of Student Leadership. Students were elected to serve on the Task Force at a spring meeting of the Student Organization Council last year. The Task Force has been responsible for attending leadership conferences, meeting with students, staff and administers, and above all, drafting the constitution.
