Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)
All undergraduate students must meet the college’s standards for Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) for each enrolled semester. To maintain SAP, students must:
- earn a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0
- earn a two-thirds (67 percent) of their total attempted credits
- attempt less than 170 credit hours during their time at Columbia
At the end of each semester, students who do not make progress are placed on Warning for their next semester of attendance. Students must meet with a College Advisor to get the Warning hold removed from their account. If a student on Warning status does not make progress for a second consecutive semester, he or she is Dismissed from the college.
All students on Warning, Dismissal, Probation or Probation Continuance are required to see a College Advisor every semester they fall under one of these categories.
