Paula's Bio
Paula Brien is the academic and career advisor for undergraduate Journalism majors at Columbia College Chicago. Paula's background is substantially in print journalism, for which she specialized in covering education, youth, employment, health care, business, and life planning issues. She has worked for a variety of media, including a national trade magazine, daily newspapers, and a Washington , D.C. , news service. Paula received a BA in social policies and public issues from Mills College in Oakland, CA , and she holds an MS in journalism from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University, Evanston, IL.
She is the founder, along with a Columbia colleague, of Raw Voices: Teens in the Media Arts, an annual conference and showcase for creative Chicago youth, and she served as the Internship Scholarship coordinator on the board of the Chicago Headline Club, the local affiliate of the Society of Professional Journalists.
