Who evaluates transfer courses?
Approved Dance faculty are responsible for course transfer decisions. The Chair is the arbiter in the case of a dispute.
Note: In order to ensure the proper placement of transfer students the Dance Department does not guarantee the equivalence of any course until a meeting or an audition and a course evaluation has been completed by a Dance faculty counselor.
1306 S. Michigan Ave.
Student asked to bring:
- Course description or course syllabus
- Complete level placement audition, if necessary
- Transfer Students seeking to begin Modern or Ballet and African training above the entry level:
Transfer students who wish to enroll for Modern or Ballet or African courses above the “Introduction to Dance Technique” level must complete level placement auditions in order to assure proper placement in our sequenced programs. If a transfer student is unable to attend a placement audition in advance of registration, they can work with a dance counselor at registration to determine a preliminary level placement. Having registered according to the preliminary placement, the student must audition during the first week of classes to confirm their placement. Should the audition result in a different level placement, adjustments to the student's schedule must be made during the Drop/Add period at the beginning of the semester.
- Transfer Students seeking the BFA degree in Dance:
