Living Learning Communities

ABOUT
Columbia College Chicago offers six Living/Learning Communities, only for new freshmen students.
Students who choose to participate as a Living/Learning Community member first select their
community based on their interest. Each community occupies a floor of the residence hall at 731 S
Plymouth. Students in Living/Learning Communities take two courses together over the academic
year: New Millennium Studies and Writing & Rhetoric II. Additionally, students in Living/Learning
Communities are offered additional, interest-specific programming opportunities that take place both
on the Columbia College campus and throughout the city.
TESTIMONIALS
"Living on the writing floor this year has provided me with the perfect transition into the college. Living on this floor allowed me to meet new people easily and feel as if I am apart of a close-knit community. Being so close to other writers and sharing classes with them promoted growth in my own writing." -- JAI
"I feel like this floor is one of the reasons I am staying here at Columbia, we all had the same classes in the beginning, and that helped me meet people from the floor. Second semester was really cool, we had some great people come in and speak to us. If it wasn't for the floor, I don't know how connected I would be..." -- HALEY
"The fact that I got to meet Stephanie Kuehnert (one of my favorite authors) was amazing! It was so cool to see a Columbia writer be so active after school. She was the one who influenced me the most, her story is something that all of us can gain things from." -- GINA
