Project Summary: How does a family's collective memory evolves as elders die and its remaining members recall events in new ways? Etz Chaim is an installation using mixed materials, including paper fibers (kozo, abaca), lighting and sound to create a forest/jungle through which viewers may walk. The sound piece is made primarily from a collection of recordings of family members telling stories. An artist's book complements the piece.
