Maggie Kast
First Year Writing
Maggie Kast's new book, The Crack between the Worlds: a dancer's memoir of loss, faith and family,
was published by Wipf and Stock Publishers in September 2009. For

website: www.maggiekast.com. She received an M.F.A. in
Writing from Vermont College and has published fiction in The Sun, Carve Magazine, Nimrod International, Rosebud, Kaleidoscope and Paper Street. Her essays have appeared in Image: Journal of Religion and the Arts, Writer's Chronicle, Contact Quarterly and others.
Maggie
taught dance and Freshman Seminar at Valparaiso University in the '90s,
and came to Columbia to teach in the Freshman Seminar program. Four
years ago she started teaching Writing and Rhetoric II, and likes
working with students to build words into sentences, paragraphs and
papers.

Excerpts from her book have appeared in America, Image and ACM (Another Chicago Magazine).
The latter received a Pushcart nomination and a Literary Award from the
Illinois Arts Council. Yoga keeps her body and mind on the same page.
