November 29, 2007Brian Costello's second novel, Losing in Gainesville, is  slated for publication through featherproof books in late 2008.  Excerpts have appeared in Analemma Magazine and Bruiser Review.

October 10, 2007—Joe Meno and Gina Frangello's novels, Hairstyles of the Damned and My Sister's Continent, were listed amongst Chicago Magazine's best Chicago novels.

September 25, 2007—Eric May published an article in the Sunday, September 23, 2007, Perspective section of the Chicago Tribune titled "What do you see? A Rorschach test for the nation: How we react to Simpson tells us about ourselves."

September 5, 2007—Joe Meno was featured in the Chicago Tribune's Tempo section along with writers Sara Paretsky, Haki Madhubuti, and Carol Anshaw in "An Authors' Tour of Chicago" by Patrick Reardon.

August 27, 2007—John Schultz and Betty Shiflett have been invited by Fudan University in Shanghai to teach students and teachers who are beginning the first master's program in creative writing in China. They will be there in October and early November. On August 3, John Schultz appeared on the History Channel's Our Generation program about the 1968 Democratic Convention.

August 19, 2007—Alexis Pride's book, Where the River Ends, was published in August. She was featured in an article in the Chicago Tribune about her AJ Ensemble Theater Company and her work as founder of Social Education Through Theater program. AJ Ensemble Theater will present David Mamet's Oleanna October 5-27 at the Salvation Army Theater.

August 29, 2007—The publication date for Fiction Writing alumna Stephanie Kuehnert's first book, newly titled, I Wanna Be Your Joey Ramone, has been moved earlier to June 2008.

July 18, 2007—Columbia alum J. A. Konrath published his fourth Jacqueline "Jack" Daniels thriller, Dirty Martini, over the summer in hardcover and audio CD and MP3.

June 30, 2007—MFA alumna Kristin Scott got a contract to write five chapters (one-half of 10 chapters) of a new coursebook about success in online learning, geared toward students to come out in the fall.

June 16, 2007—Randy Albers will be making two appearances at the National Association of Writers in Education Conference in York, England in November. As featured presenter, he will appear with Steve May, Director of Creative Writing at Bath Spa University, "International Collaboration: an HE Case Study." Also, he will be featured presenter of "Seeing, Re-seeing, and Revision: A Story Workshop Demonstration Class."

June 7, 2007—Joe Meno (#8), Randy Albers (#26), and FW adjunct Gina Frangello (#35) made the Newcity list of "Who Really Books in Chicago."

June 5, 2007—FW adjunct Michael McColly's memoir, The After Death Room, won the 2006 Lambda Literary Award.

May 31, 2007—MFA alum Drew Ferguson's novel The Screwed-up Life of Charlie the Second, will be published by Kensington Books in the summer of 2008. The book is an expansion of the story, "Star," which appeared in Hair Trigger when he was a student here.
